On Deck the Merlin Yacht

The large cockpit has a new teak sole with sealed storage areas below accessed by flush hatches on gas struts. There is a convenient built in custom refrigerator with a 12 volt dc. system, this is ideal for cold drinks and ice and has a very efficient freezer section.
There is a gas bbq grill on a custom pivoting mount and a pair of removable swivel helm seats. The cockpit hardtop holds lights, speakers, and dual instrumentation visible and accessible from each of the twin helms. 8 may sit at the beautiful teak cockpit table, canvas side and rear curtains can easily be put up to create a dry yet well ventilated area in wet weather. There is under seat locker storage and two large lazaret compartments, each one will hold 3 – 5 gallon fuel jugs.

Port forward has a very large storage area accessed through a 24 x24 in. deck hatch, this holds fenders and other items and is large enough for a single berth if desired.

A 12.5 KW. 4 cylinder Kubota diesel generator is mounted on double insulated feet in a heavily insulated forward compartment with positive ventilation and a dedicated start battery and instrument panel. This generator is very reliable, extremely quiet and completely vibration free.

The 50hp. 4 cylinder Yanmar main engines drive the yacht through three blade propellers on sail drives and have proven completely trouble free. Each motor has a dedicated start battery. The port motor has a auxiliary 200 amp. large frame alternator with a three stage smart regulator, starboard motor carries the belt driven refrigeration compressor.

Dual 2800 watt. pure sine wave inverters provide 120 volt service from the 1200 amp.hour Rolls Surette deep cycle battery bank that are contained within a power-vented locker. These inverters each have built in125 amp 5 stage battery chargers, and are controlled and monitored at the nav. station remote panels. Battery charging is also achieved with the 200 amp large frame alternator on the port engine and the 'airbreeze' wind generator mounted at starboard aft. There is ample room for several large solar panels to be mounted on the hardtop.

There are shore power receptacles, both 30 amp and 50 amp. at starboard forward and port aft, the aft has a Glendinning 'cable master' automatic shore cord reel.

The heads are all 'Headhunter Royal Flush' full size ceramic bowls with high pressure salt water flush, no parts to jam or clog, there is never any odor.

Each head has a holding tank or can flush directly overboard.

A 1300 gallon a day desalinator supplies water to the two 125 gallon keel tanks where it is treated by timer controlled ozone generators and distributed as needed by a pair of Jabsco sensor max pumps. There is also a isolated 20 gallon tank that supplies water to ice maker, wet bar and the sink mounted drinking water spigot, this water is run through a UV chamber and a charcoal filter. Hot water is supplied by two 19 gallon 220 volt and engine heat exchange tanks.
